New Green Lodging on the Oregon Coast
(PRWEB) April 7, 2010 -- A first on the Oregon Coast, the Greenstone Inn opens a new chapter in eco-friendly Oregon lodging. Several years in the planning, Greenstone Inn opens May 21 and is now accepting reservations.
Located ocean-front in the historic Nye Beach district of Newport, Greenstone Inn provides beach access for its guests. Every unit has a gas firplace, a private balcony and a breathtaking view of the spectacular Oregon Coast. Accommodations range from studios for two to family suites for eight.
At every stage of planning and development, the all- encompassing goal has been to be as environmentally responsible as possible.
Site preparation began with recycling deconstruction materials from the 85 year old Viking's Cottages to avoid sending them to a landfill.
The architectural design incorporates two peaked metal rooflines pitched at an optimal angle for energy collection by solar panels. Greenstone Inn feeds electricity to the grid.
Innovative concepts, such as waste-water heat reclamation and key-card room temperature management, further support sustainability.
All building and furnishing materials were selected with environmental consideration: green certified recycled materials for carpeting; wood-clad doors and window frames; low volatile organic component (VOC) paints; drapes and upholstery fabrics made primarily from recycled water bottles; Energy Star rated appliances; recycled structural steel; certified renewable forest wood; water-saving showers and toilets; and low-energy, compact florescent lighting.
We all share the goal of treading lightly upon this precious Earth. Greenstone Inn embodies this ideal. Visit www.Greenstone-Inn.com or call 800-480-2477.
